The History of Rosebud.....

In the beginning.........there was Rosebud, circa 1948. The truck was purchased by a service station owner in a small town in southeasternWashington state...Dayton; population 3,000. (Douglass Motors on 495 J Street or 283 West Street). In the mid 1980's the truck was sold to Charles who parked it in the garage for the majority of his ownership time. This is where I come in........1998.

Being a school teacher in 1998 teaching little nippers I had a somewhat stressful job, yet my job became even more stressful when our district operating levy failed to pass the general elections. This meant cutbacks, layoffs and more stress for yours truly. Riding my bike prior to the beginning of that stressful year, I came across Rosebud.....with a For Sale sign attached in Walla Walla, Washington. Thinking of the need I might have for a good psychiatrist in the coming year I opted to go with Rosebud with a suggestion from my wife.

Originally my intent was simply to get it in perfect "running" order and to get the rust off. Painting? Yeah, well I thought I would paint it flat red and let it fade in the hot sun, giving it the appearance of being real old but deep down...it would run great. But as time has ways of changing one's goals, my goal with the truck changed as well. With each piece of the truck stripped off, cleaned, perhaps replaced, I became more and more enthralled with the idea of making it look like it just rolled out of the factory. Quite a few thousand later.....viola! A truck to be proud of. Not quite perfect for I left a few character flaws such as are in the back panel in the bed....just to remind me this is a driver........ Rosebud has found a new life.

This site is dedicated to the early F Series trucks. (1948-1952) There was very little difference between the 48's, 49's and 50's with a bit more cosmetic difference appearing in the 51's through 52's. My intent is to take my restored 1948 F-1 and give you a closer look at particular things I have run up against or enjoyed!
